There is no digital revolution without a democratic revolution

I am an innovation economist and digital policy expert, working at the intersection of technology, geopolitics, economics and society. I am the President of the Italian national innovation Fund, and I sit on the Board of RAI, the Italian public broadcasting company. I am Honorary Professor in the Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose at UCL in London and I am part of the High-level Roundtable for the New European Bauhaus set up by the EC President Ursula von der Leyen.

I have been advising the United Nations on Digital Cities and Digital Rights and I am the former CTO of the City of Barcelona. I have leading big European Research and Innovation projects related to digital sovereignty, digital democracy and crypto platforms. Forbes Magazine included me in the Top 50 Women in Tech in 2018.

About me

I am an innovation economist, working at the intersection of technology policy, society and the Arts. I am currently the Digital Commissioner for the City of Barcelona, and I lead DECODE, the biggest project on data sovereignty in Europe. I am also Visiting Professor at UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose. As Senior Programme Lead at innovation foundation Nesta, I led D-CENT, the largest European experiment on digital democracy & cryptocurrency and DSI4EU, an EH-wide effort promoting digital social innovation. I was listed in Forbes Magazine's Top 50 Women in Tech in 2018.
